Finally, after months of planning we're ready for our honeymoon to New Zealand (!!). After the wedding we spent two days hanging out with family and friends in Glen Ellen. We had a casual brunch with family at one of the house rentals on Sunday and got to enjoy some down time after that.
On Monday we said our goodbyes and headed back to Oakland to pack. We had brunch with Shannon, Jen, Zack, Steve and Amy before Shannon took us to the airport.
With the time difference we arrived in Auckland on Wednesday, October 11th. We lost a day traveling even though the flight was only 12 hours.
We got through customs quickly since it was only 6am and then took a short bus trip to domestic travel where we breezily went through airport security for our hour flight to Wellington. Security didn't ask us to remove our laptop, take off our shoes or dispose of our bottled water. They didn't even ask to see our tickets or identification!! It was a jarring difference compared to the scrutiny we endured in the States. We hung out in the airport for a few hours and had breakfast. In Wellington we had to run to make our 20 minute, 20 seater flight to Blenheim. Although it was short the flight afforded us some amazing views!
At the tiny airport we got our car--a Ford, Mondeo--and headed to our first night's lodging. Jeremy quickly mastered driving on the left side of the road. I think I had a bigger problem with getting in on the wrong side of the car.
