Jen and the Short End of the Stick

I had this great vision that I would ask the women to be in our wedding in sweet and meaningful ways...or at the very least in person. Shortly after our engagement Jen and I went out to dinner--I don't remember where, but I know that it involved wine. Chatting over dinner she persistently questioned who would be in the wedding party. I don't know if she was really all that persistent or if I'm just completely incapable of keeping a secret. All I know is that I blurted out that we wanted her to be in the wedding party. And even though it was fun to spend the rest of the evening contemplating what she would wear and if she would wear a dress for the first time since she was a child; I was a little bummed that I couldn't suprise her like we did Shannon and Jill. So I pretended that I hadn't asked at all.

A couple weeks later I snuck over to her house and left a card and a present on her doorstep. The card asked if she'd be in our wedding. The book offered her guidance. It was called: The Bridesmaid's Survival Guide. It promised to be a hilarious handbook to womanhood's most dubious distinction. She called the next day to accept. :)
