Asking Sheila and Jerusha

I had decided pretty early on that I would ask my Aunt Sheila and her daughter, my cousin, Jerusha to be in our wedding. Sheila moved beyond Auntie status and became one of my closest friends when we lived together years before. Although, technically a cousin, Jerusha had been more like a sister to me since they moved to California so many years before. And although they both live in Seattle now we keep in touch and pretend the distance isn't too much.

We needed to visit the Grandparents in Haleyville, Alabama so me, Mom, Sheila, Jerusha, Belle and Jeremy all flew to Birmingham. Belle had never met her great grandparents and it'd been too long since most of us had visited.  Jeremy and I were newly engaged so it was only appropriate that we shock his native California comfort with some Southern..."charm". My hope was that he'd still want to marry me after making the trip. :)

Our first night in Birmingham we surprised Sheila and Jerusha each with a card asking them to join us in our celebration by acting as bridesmaids. I think they were truly surprised. And with that we wrapped up the girl side of the wedding party.
