Oregano! And Other Ridiculous Things Noah Says

Grandma came to play yesterday as she does each Friday. At one point her and Noah were hiding out in the pantry. They had been quiet for a bit when the door flew open and Noah came running into the living room to tell us, "Grandma touched the oregano!" Needless to say we were a little confused. I asked my Mom for clarification. Grandma explained that Noah pointed to the oregano and asked what it was. Grandma picked it up and said, "Oregano". Noah told her she wasn't supposed to touch it and came out to tell on her. Not only was Noah guilty of entrapment, but then he narked on his own Grandmother for the heinous crime of oregano touching! Of course we scolded her though...I mean, you can't just go around touching oregano!

Last night Noah headed upstairs after announcing that he was going to get ready for bed. He was a little too quiet so I went to check on him. I found him hanging out in his room totally naked. He had picked out some pajamas, but they were summer pjs--shorts and a t-shirt. I told him he would be too cold in them and suggested he pick out something a little warmer. At that point my naked 3 year old walked slowly to the closet, folded his arms, sat down and crossed his legs. He looked up at me and said, "Don't be ridiculous." After picking myself up off the floor from laughing so hard I looked up at him where he matter of factly added, "It's not that cold." Jeez. What do I know.

This morning we were all sitting at the dining room table. I decided I wanted some tangerine juice so I got up to get a glass. I casually offered a glass to Noah figuring he wouldn't actually want any. He doesn't like juice because 1) it's "too juicy" and 2) he tells us that he'll drink it when he's "older". He said no thank you, but then immediately changed his mind and said yes. I quickly slid the glass to him where he inspected the contents as though it was the most disgusting thing I could have possibly given him. He then said he changed his mind and slid it back. I took the glass and reminded him that he would really like juice if he would just give it a try. At that point he put his exasperated little head in his hand and said, " You can't always do this to me, Mom.". ?!?!?! What exactly am I "doing" to him?! And when exactly did he become an angsty teenager?!
